DRYLANDSI am a first year Master’s student in the Department of Earth, Environmental and Resource Sciences at UTEP. My research focuses on distinguishing abiotic vs. biotic carbon as both contribute to the formation of pedogenic carbonate, in an agriculturally altered and natural arid environments. The formation of pedogenic carbonate is an enigma to both agricultural and natural settings as it affects it hydrologically and biogeochemically. I am currently the Treasure of the Geology Club/SGE Chapter at UTEP and I am a member of the Dryland Critical Zone/GG project/JEM group. I propose to combine my strong education with exemplary, and always growing management skills to face the complex and challenging environment that the earth finds itself in today.
