Kalpana is a Ph.D. student at the University of Texas at El Paso. She received a bachelor’s degree in biotechnology from H.N.B. Garhwal University and a master’s degree in agriculture with a concentration in agroforestry from G.B.P.U.A.T. in Pantnagar, India. Her Ph.D. dissertation work focuses on quantifying low molecular weight organic acids in dryland soils using targeted and untargeted metabolomic analyses. She is also interested to know the role of organic acids in assigning phosphorus into biologically meaningful pools and to better understand the nutrient (with a focus on phosphorus, P) cycle in typical dryland landscapes.
