DRYLANDSThough I spend much of my time looking at birds, my research interests have always been more diverse. I did my undergrad at UC Berkeley, where I studied Environmental Biology and GIS. I've worked on a wide range of subjects from Giant Kangaroo Rats in the California desert, to plants and rangelands in Central California, and fairywrens in Australia, but my main focus has always been on ecology. With the Dryland CZ project, I hope to learn more about dryland ecology and how plant and microbe communities respond to changing soil nutrient levels. I'm particularly interested in how I can use GIS and remote sensing tools to uncover landscape level patterns brought about by the plant and microbial responses to nutrient availability.
