A seismologist by training, I now consider myself a critical zone geophysicist, following two decades of working in marine geophysics. I am privileged to serve as the lead PI on the Bedrock Cluster, an amazing "dream team" of scientists who are trying to unravel the feedbacks connecting bedrock geology to critical zone structure and function. I'm a professor of geophysics at Virginia Tech and also serve as the department head of VT's Department of Geosciences. The field is my happy place.
