Hannah Wehrmeister is a junior at Brigham Young University (BYU) studying geology with a minor in environmental science. Her interest in the earth sciences began at a young age while spending time outdoors around her home in central Maryland and on family trips to the Rocky Mountains. During her freshman year at BYU, Hannah had the opportunity to study in Alaska over the summer where she participated in field work and learned about the earth processes that shaped the Alaskan landscape. Inspired by this experience, Hannah decided to major in geology and plans to pursue a graduate degree focusing on environmental geology, where she can study current environmental issues and create sustainable solutions. She currently does research in the Mercury Lab at BYU and is excited to continue working on projects that help build a better future. During her free time, Hannah enjoys painting, hiking with her dog, and rock climbing all over Utah.
