Dr. David Grimley is a Principal Research Scientist at the Illinois State Geological Survey (Prairie Research Institute) at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. He is a Quaternary Geologist and his expertise includes loess-paleosol sequences, surficial geologic mapping, glacial-interglacial deposits in Illinois, Pleistocene gastropods, soil magnetic properties and anthropogenic fly ash in surficial deposits. For the CINet project, he is separating magnetic fly ash (from post-1850 coal burning) from Sangamon Valley alluvial sample to aid with geochronologic estimates
