Program Leader – Urban Earth Science Education (based in Baltimore, MD).
Bring cutting edge Earth science to high school students and educators in Baltimore and other East Coast urban areas. The Program Leader will join the Cary Institute education team to help lead two grant-supported projects based in Baltimore, MD, including: EarthX: Advancing Earth Science Instruction across High School Biology, Chemistry, and Physics in Baltimore City Public Schools (80% time) and Urban Critical Zone education initiatives (20% time). The Program Leader will be based in or near Baltimore, with occasional travel to Cary Institute in Millbrook, NY. Associate Research Specialist (based in Millbrook, NY; remote work possible).
Provide research support and data coordination for the EarthX education project Cary Institute is leading in the Baltimore City Public Schools. The Associate Research Specialist will join the EarthX team that is working with teachers and educators to infuse Earth science into Baltimore’s high school biology, chemistry and physics classes. The EarthX research groups are using teacher interviews and surveys, classroom observations and focus groups, and student assessments to address questions about Earth science teaching and learning across the grades. This is a part-time (60%), exempt, and benefited grant-supported position for up to 4 years. Start date is on or before 3 January 2023, and preferred work location is at Cary Institute in Millbrook, NY, but remote work with is a possibility for this position.
