The San Jacinto Mountains site, located approximately 100 miles east of Los Angeles, is the warmest and driest of all of our research sites. Similar to the San Gabriel Mountains site, it has chaparral at low elevations and pine forests at high elevations. The bedrock is granitic, with a lower fracture density than our other sites.
