PANOLA MOUNTAIN

Panola Mountain, the most recently added of our research sites, is located just southeast of Atlanta, GA. It is characterized by a deciduous forest as well as a warm, humid climate. The Panola site is particularly advantageous because it features two types of crystalline bedrock - granodiorite and biotite gneiss - which can help us answer questions about how bedrock type influences CZ thickness, groundwater storage, and stream baseflow. This site also contains a 100-acre granite outcrop.
