K-12 Education

Classroom and Regional Outreach: Each year hundreds of learners across Colorado get hands-on experience with Critical Zone content through a STEM Outreach partnership with CU Science Discovery.  Science Discovery offers three 1-hour classroom presentations on geology and erosion; fire ecology and water quality; and the important role ice and snow play in our regional water systems.  Science Discovery also offers these classes in an exciting full-day STEM Workshop titled Earth Systems Science: Exploring Change in the Critical Zone. These presentations and workshops are designed for upper elementary and middle school students and can be adapted for any age/classroom or for large scale events and public outreach opportunities. For more information on these programs, visit: http://sciencediscovery.colorado.edu/program/school-teacher-programs/ or email Hester Nadel (email)
