Conceptual models allow SSHCZO researchers to concisely express the functional components of the Critical Zone and explore connections between the four core systems of the Critical Zone: Weather/Climate, Soil and Ecology, Hydrology and Hydropedology, and Geomorphology and Weathering. The models detailed here express the current state of knowledge of the SSHCZO team and serve as a basis for discussion between disciplines. When possible, we look to collaborate with other CZOs to refine these models with data from other environments.
