Adventures in the Critical Zone is a new blog taking on the challenge of presenting interesting discoveries from the many different disciplines of Critical Zone science and bringing them to a general audience. The blog is led by the National Office Post-Doctoral Fellow Justin Richardson and will explore topics from trees to groundwater and everything in between.

Much like the scientific method, the blog is driven by questions asked either by Dr. Richardson or submitted by readers. To propose topics to be discussed, please send suggestions to AskCriticalZone@gmail.com. In each blog post, Richardson and his occasional guest authors (researchers and educators) will explore the foundational science of the topic and highlight some of the research being conducted at the CZOs. Many posts will include a brief introduction to the field, some of the current topics, and interviews with CZO researchers when possible. Guest posts will touch upon a myriad of other topics such as best practices in geoscience education or personal experiences from field expeditions.

Adventures in the Critical Zone is just the first of more CZO blogs to come.  All CZO personnel are invited to participate, from early undergrads to seasoned researchers and affiliates. If you like to write or have a unique perspective such as a grad student viewpoint, then consider making a guest contribution to an existing blog or creating a brand new blog.  New blogs can have one main author or several regular contributors acting as a team (from one CZO or several).  The expectation is 6 posts per year, and ideally more frequently (ie monthly).  Please submit rough ideas to Justin Richardson (CZO PostDoc) or David Lubinski (CZO Webmaster).
The blog posts can be found here: http://criticalzone.org/national/blogs/
