PhD candidate at Georgia Tech working in the Environmental Fluid Mechanics and Water Resources lab group on two projects at Calhoun: (1) Flux Tower: The objective of the flux tower is to measure the fluxes of energy, water and gases of chemical substance for understanding the impact of land cover change over the critical zone on the hydro-meteorological and geochemical processes. The design focuses on the selection of site(s), sensors and configuration of instrument. Working closely with Duke team, we propose to build two flux towers one at re-growth forest site and one at a crop site. The construction of the 9-m forest tower was completed in August, 2016. (2) Digitization of Historical Data: The objective of digitizing the historical data of stream-flow and rainfall is to understand the hydrological history of Calhoun CZ and to provide historical data to validate and calibrate hydrological models for simulating its evolution under human and natural forcings.
